The Crimson Mask: The Villain Who Doesn't Have a Body
Share
Most villains can be fought. You can shoot them, outrun them, or lock them away. The entity at the heart of the Metallic Souls saga offers none of those options, because there is nothing to shoot.
No Body. No Face. One Mask.
The presence stalking the colonies of Mars is formless. It does not walk into a room. It is simply there, and the only thing that ever stays the same is the crimson mask. The mask is its single fixed point in reality, the one thing witnesses agree on when nothing else about their accounts line up.
That design choice is deliberate. Fear of a monster fades once you can describe it. Fear of something that refuses to be described is the kind that follows you home.
Why a Mask?
A mask is a promise that something is underneath. Every culture on Earth carried masks to Mars in its stories: theater masks, plague masks, war paint. The crimson mask weaponizes that instinct. Characters in the series do not just fear what it does. They fear what it might be hiding, and whether the answer is worse than the question.
Where It All Begins
Readers first feel the mask's shadow early in Metallic Souls Part 1, and its presence deepens with every book. If you want the full effect, start at the beginning and let the dread build the way it was written to.
Prefer to keep the mask where you can see it? The crimson mask and the world around it appear across our Sci-Fi & Cyberpunk art collection.
New lore drops every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The mask will be waiting.
